Pat Canadians plan to leave legacy for Adam Herold
The Regina Pat Canadians are hosting a fundraising evening Friday to support the Adam Herold Legacy and Memorial Fund.
Herold, a 16-year-old hockey player with the Humboldt Broncos, who was drafted by the Prince Albert Raiders in 2016, lost his life along with 15 others when the Broncos’ team bus collided with a semi while the team was heading to a playoff game April 6. Herold also played for the Pat Canadians for two years and served as the team captain in the 2017/18 season before he was called up to the Broncos for the playoffs.
On May 11, the Pat Canadians will hold a fundraiser in order to leave a lasting legacy in Herold’s memory. The event will include a hockey game featuring current and former Pat Canadians, as well as a live and silent auction.
Pat Canadians Manager John Smith said the idea was originally suggested by one of Herold’s former teammates, and since then people “have come out of the woodwork” to offer their support, whether or not they had a personal connection to Herald.
