New roof for Little Red River Park Log Cabin

Jul 16, 2015 | 12:10 PM

Thanks to a local business, the log cabin in Little Red River Park has a new roof.

Ray Littlechild, owner of the local Smitty’s, donated $20,000 to replace the roof.

The cabin, which is used for storage, had substantial damage to the roof resulting in leaking.

“I support the outdoors and the environment,” said Littlechild. “It was leaking and I had some old buildings that were leaking, they turned rotten and they totally get ruined if you leave it that way.”

Mayor Greg Dionne and Councillor Mark Tweidt rewarded Littlechild with a plaque this morning for his contributions.

“The city has been good to our family. The people have been good to our family. They’ve supported out business a lot so we just thought we would give some appreciation back some way.”
