Agecoutay sentenced in death of Indian Posse gang leader

One of the men charged in the killing of Daniel Wolfe, the founder of the Indian Posse changed his plea today.

Ryan Agecoutay, 27, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, as well as the attempted murder of Chayenne Nelson, another inmate involved in a jailhouse brawl in January that resulted in Wolfe's death.

Agecoutay was sentenced to 10 years in prison for both counts. He is currently incarcerated for  aggravated assault, prison breach, and assault with a weapon. He will serve the new ten year sentence concurrently.

His scheduled early release was for Aug. 3, 2013. With this additional sentence, he will not be eligible for release until Dec. 2020.

The fight that led to Wolfe’s murder occured on Jan. 4 during the noon hour at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary outside of Prince Albert.

A large crowd was involved and Wolfe was stabbed repeatedly.

Six men, including Agecoutay, were charged in relation to the stabbing.

Francis Yukon, 34, and Nolan Turcotte, 19, both received seven year sentences, while Jacob Worm, 26, and Michael Slippery, 23, each received a 10-year sentence.

Tristan Raphael, 27, appears in court Nov. 30.

Agecoutay was ordered to provide a DNA sample and is not allowed to possess a firearm for 10 years.

Agecoutay and Wolfe were two of the six people who escaped from the Regina Correctional Facility in Aug. 2008.
