Joseph Kuhn

With sadness in our hearts, but with thankfulness for a long life well lived, the family of Joseph Kuhn announces his peaceful passing on October 20, 2026, at the age of 95. Dad was born on April 9, 1931, in Bruno, Saskatchewan.
At the age of six, he moved with his parents to homestead in the Red Deer Hill area. He attended Gerrond School until about Grade 8, then stayed home to help his parents on the farm. Dad often shared stories and fond memories of farm life and the fun he had growing up with his five siblings. Those early years helped shape the hardworking, practical man we came to know and love.
As he got older, Dad spent his winters operating a bulldozer, clearing land. He also worked at the Sask Timber Board in Prince Albert, SK and spent several winters working at the Burns Meat Packers Plant, also in Prince Albert.
On October 16, 1956, Dad married Mom, Helen (Yockey). Together, they began building their life and raising their four children. Farming became the centre of their lives, and Dad worked alongside his younger brother, Eddie and his family. Together, they worked the land for many years until retirement. While farming, Dad always appreciated Mom’s home-cooked meals, whether she brought them out to the field while he was farming or he came home to a warm meal waiting for him. Those meals were a reminder of the love and care that went into looking after her family.
Dad was a man who appreciated the simple things in life. He didn’t need a lot of hobbies or fancy pastimes to be happy. He enjoyed good food, the company of family and friends, and a good visit. He loved music and singing along to the old classics. Later in life, Dad developed an interest in collecting and restoring old John Deere tractors. It was something he enjoyed, bringing together his love of farming and an appreciation for machinery. Those familiar green and yellow tractors were a reminder of the many years he had spent working the land.
Above all, Dad loved his family. He took great pleasure in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and visits with them became especially meaningful in his later years. Whether sharing stories, enjoying a meal together, listening to music, or simply spending time in one another’s company, these moments were precious.
Faith was also a part of Dad’s life. He would spend time reading his Bible, finding comfort and guidance in its words. His faith was a quiet and personal part of who he was, and we hope it brought him peace throughout his long life.
As we say goodbye, we take comfort in the hope and promise of eternal peace. We are grateful for the long life Dad was given, and for the many memories he leaves behind. We will remember his stories, his laugh, and the time we were fortunate enough to spend with him.
Joseph will be remembered by his son, Dale (Charlotte) Kuhn; grand-daughter in law, Amy Kuhn, and her children, Levi (Alaria), their daughters Briar, Madi, and Garver; granddaughter, Amanda Kuhn, and her children, Boe, Tien, and Adalize; granddaughter, Melissa (Cam) Bates, and their children, Benson, and Rylan; son, Brian (Menky) Kuhn; daughter, Joanne Brydges Bowen (Daryl); grandson, Jeffrey Brydges (Natalie), and their children, Erica and Alivia; granddaughter, Sarah Stahl (Tyler), and their daughter, Teagan; daughter, Elona Matheis (Doug); grandchildren, Jacob Matheis, Nicole Matheis Smith (Jared), and Luke Matheis (Kassandra).
