It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Kenneth Allen George Haugen, in the early hours of October 23, 2026.
Ken was born in Prince Albert, SK, on February 26, 1943, to parents Kerna and George Haugen of Spruce Home, SK. His early years were spent on the family farm at Birch Hills until he left to complete his final years of high school at LCBI.
Ken taught at Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert for 30 years. Upon retiring, he became a “jack of all trades”, building decks, laying hardwood floors, and tackling whatever needed to be done in all of his children’s homes. He could often be found in his woodworking shop creating many treasured pieces, leaving behind cherished memories of his grandchildren puttering alongside him.
Ken loved nothing more than hooking up the trailer and hopping in the truck with his wife, Betty, to travel across Canada or head down to Arizona for warm winters. He was also always happy to jump on an airplane and explore places across Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Throughout his life, his family, church community, and connections to Kinasao Lutheran Bible Camp were central to his being. As his Parkinson’s progressed, his final days were spent at Mont St. Joseph Home, where he received wonderful care.
Ken is survived by his wife, Betty Haugen; son, Chris (Laura) Haugen and their children: Keira (Derek) Byker and great-grandchild Mason; Erik (Chloe) Haugen; daughter, Tavia (Tracy) Reynolds and their children, Patrick (Elisa) Reynolds and great-grandchild Milo; Jamie Reynolds; Matthew (Arielle) Reynolds; daughter, Tara (Brad) Haugen and their children, Jakob (Erika) Surjik; Hannah Surjik; siblings, Harvey (Sylvia) Haugen, Daniel (Bev) Haugen, Edna Bjorgan, Sid (Kathy) Haugen; sister-in-law, Jan (Danny) Birkland and numerous extended family members.
