A short vigil was held for Pte Shaun Farrell at Memorial Square next to Prince Albert City Hall on Oct 25, with about four weeks until Remembrance Day, when Canada will remember thousands of Farrell’s comrades as well.

Memorial Square is the site of the city’s Cenotaph, which is inscribed with words acknowledging the memory of men and women of Prince Albert and the surrounding areas who served in the Allied Forces in WWII.

Other conflicts have been added to the Square, acknowledging the Korean War, Afghanistan War, peacekeeping missions, Indigenous veterans and women.

Several hundred people showed up for a brief vigil hosted by friends of the Farrell family.
