Mike Podborochynski

1948 – 2026

 

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mike Podborochynski on Wednesday September 2, 2026, in Prince Albert at the age of 77. He was a wonderful husband, father, and kitty grandpa. Things won’t be the same without him here but now he can dance up a storm with Evelyn every chance they get.

Mike was born October 26, 1948, to John and Mary. He spent his youth on the farm near Meath Park before he moved to Prince Albert to start his career as a truck driver. He worked at Motorways and CP before he found his long-term home with Kindersley Transport where he worked alongside his brother Stan until the early 2000’s and eventually retired in 2015 to care for his wife.

Mike lived in the city, but always had his heart at the farm. He and his brother Stan kept up the family farm on evenings and weekends until they officially retired from farming in 2005.

He really loved music and dancing, he could always be found on the dance floor and that is where he met his wife of 54 years, Evelyn. They married November 1972 and danced the night away until they had their daughter Tracy in 1982.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Tracy Podborochynski; son-in law, Cameron Kautzman; grand-kitty, Jax; brother, Stanley Podborochynski; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cholewa and Barbara (Robert) Sluchinski; nieces, Nancy (Roger) Korte, Cheryl (Derek) Brecht, Lynn (Tal) Schmidt, and Lori (Derrick) Gagnon; and nephew Greg (Thusa) Sluchinski.

Mike was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; parents, John and Mary Podborochynski; in-laws, Edward (Ted) and Miriam Dewhurst, and Victor Cholewa and Dorothy Podborochynski.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28^th Street West, Prince Albert, SK.
