$150,000 in contraband seized from Sask. Pen.

Aug 27, 2026 | 1:01 PM

Over three days last week, staff at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary helped with the seizure of multiple banned or illegal items that are worth just under $150,000 inside the prison.

The contraband included methamphetamine, cocaine, THC concentrate, tobacco, a cell phone and charger, a USB card reader and rolling papers.

Corrections Canada did not specify if any charges were laid or if the RCMP have been called to investigate.

CSC uses ion scanners and drug dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.

CSC said it is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

A telephone tip line has been set up for all federal institutions so that it may receive additional information about activities relating to security at CSC institutions.

The toll-free number, 1‑866‑780‑3784, helps ensure that the information shared is protected and that callers remain anonymous.
