December 20, 1945 – August 20, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Shirley Lynne Halayka, on August 20, 2026.
Shirley was born on December 20, 1945 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to Allen and Marion Weir. She had three siblings (Donna Lubyk, Phillip Weir, and Patrick Weir) that she cared for deeply. Throughout her life, family was incredibly important to Shirley and remained at the heart of who she was.
Shirley was the loving wife of Don Halayka, with whom she shared a life filled with family, love, and many cherished memories.
She was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Brad (Twyla) Halayka and Michael (Krista) Halayka.
Shirley was a proud and loving grandmother to Kaden, Kayla, Braden, Ciana, Cael, and Peyton. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and the memories they made with Grandma will be treasured for years to come.
Shirley enjoyed a long career with SaskTel before retiring. Retirement brought her the opportunity to spend time at White Swan Lake, a place she truly enjoyed and where many special memories were made with family and friends. Her time at the lake became an important part of her retirement years and a place that always held a special place in her heart.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Although she may no longer be with us, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the impact she had on her family will remain with them always.
In lieu of a funeral service, a private gathering for family and close friends will be held at a future date to celebrate Shirley’s life and the many wonderful memories she leaves behind.
Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Funeral Chapel & Crematorium. Mark & Pedro Gyoerick, Mel & Troy Curle, & Jordyn Jacobson. 306.763.8488.
