Vigil for teenage girl reflects outpouring of community support
With tears in her eyes and surrounded by family members, Danica Moore said she will never stop fighting for her daughter.
On a day when she should have been celebrating Peyton Flett’s 15th birthday, the grieving mother was instead speaking at a community vigil for her daughter. Almost a week has passed since her lifeless body was found in an area of the city’s southeast side. At this stage of the police investigation, while deemed suspicious, the cause of death remains unknown.
The massive crowd that gathered Wednesday night at the riverbank placed dozens of stuffed animals, flowers and small gifts around the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls monument.
“My daughter reached each and every one of you, and I thank you for that,” Moore said.
