It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Therese Dion (née Paquette), who passed away peacefully, surrounded by generations of family on July 23, 2026, in Kelowna, at the age of 97.

Therese was born, the youngest of twelve children, on June 28, 1929, in Debden, SK. She married Ted Dion in Port Alberni, BC in 1947 and they had three children Jacqueline, Louis and Leo. Ted and Therese raised their family, while running many businesses, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. During those years, many hours were spent together at the family cabin in Emma Lake, SK.  Ted and Therese later followed their grown children back to British Columbia, living in Nanaimo and then Ladner.

Therese is lovingly survived by her daughter Jacquie (Dwayne), sons Louis and Leo, grandchildren Michelle (Jason), Kerrie, Tina (Kevan), David, Chloe (Ian), Taylor (Josh), Remy (Shaggy), Monique (Greg) and great grandchildren Jonathan (Megan), Delaney, Matthew, Beckett, Ivy, Harper, Celeste, Freya and Bennett in addition to her dear friend Roy and his family.  All will miss her very much.

She was predeceased by her husband Ted; daughters-in-law Judy and Darlene; and her grandson Craig.

Therese will be remembered for her sense of humor and great laugh, her generosity, her love of games and a great gathering, the sewing she did for so many people, the hours of baking and tea parties that she enjoyed with her grandchildren, her annual pickled beets and tourtières, and the beautiful stained glass she created with Ted over the years.  She was a woman who loved family and fun and she created a life rich in memories and a legacy that will continue through the generations she left behind.

She will be deeply missed but will live on in our hearts and memories.

Family and friends will each honour Therese’s long and well-lived life in their own ways. No formal service will be held.

Michelle and Jacquie would like to thank the staff of Cottonwoods for the kindness and care they provided to Therese in her final days.
