It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vi Lorraine Dahl on May 26, 2026, in Prince Albert, SK, surrounded by her beloved caregivers of the Herb Bassett Care Home, Golden Hill. She was born on August 13, 1936, in Duck Lake, SK.
Vi was always a fighter. She overcame numerous physical and health issues including polio, loss of an infant child, miscarriage, cancer, numerous surgeries and a brain tumour. She never backed down from a challenge. She was always an adventurer and the centre of her world.
She was s self-taught musician who sang and mastered many instruments. For years, she managed her own band, The Polka Pals. She recorded an album with Jim Munro and the Roving Guitars and was a part of the Prince Albert Winter Festival during the early years. Her talent took her on stage in back-up bands for celebrity guest performers visiting Prince Albert.
Driving was a passion of mom’s. She spent a lot of time scooting around on a minibike and taking us on endless Sunday drives. Her love of driving took her to Moose Jaw where she became a driver instructor.
She worked in various retail stores in Prince Albert and received the employee of the year award at Carment’s Jewellery Store.
She had a great eye for fashion and loved to dress well. She dressed every day, wore makeup, jewellery and did her nails. She never gave up. Those who cared for her at Herb Basset Home often referred to as a firecracker! They said she was funny and a person with whom you always knew where you stood.
She always demanded her way! Mom shared her concern for those she considered friends and went out of her way to bless them. She helped “old ladies”, shared cigarettes and lighters with other smokers, gave away clothes and sent Janet shopping for things that her friends needed!
She lived and loved the best she could. She overcame many personal challenges that would have discouraged most people. We will miss her.
Vi is survived by her daughters, Dyanne (Bradley Christensen) and Janet (Marvin Sinclair); daughter-In-Law, Elsie (Richard Corrigal); grandchildren, Kristen (James), Michael (Catherine), Tim (Wendy), Tammara (Tim), Trevor (Stephanie), and Nichole; and great – grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Andrea, Cole, Christine, and Annabelle.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Blaine Dahl and James Corrigal; son, Richard; son in infancy, Brian; parents, Adeline (Mary) and Arthur Wait; brothers, William Wait and Finley Wait; and sisters, Mary Sampson and Doris Letendre.
