Bail hearings set for teens accused in Daina Gauthier murder

Both teens accused of killing 27-year-old Daina Gauthier in downtown Prince Albert last week will remain in custody for now.  

The 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl made their first appearances on charges of second-degree murder in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday and set bail hearings for August 17. 

Family members of both teens were in the courtroom as they appeared before Judge Harradence.  

Details of what led to Gauthier’s death remain scarce, but Prince Albert police were called to 14th Street East, next to the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre just before 2 a.m. on July 30. They found Gauthier suffering from serious injuries and began first aid until Parkland Ambulance arrived and transported her to hospital. She later died in the hospital.
