Prince Albert Raiders prospect Athens Shingoose is among 80 players from across the country invited to Hockey Canada’s U17 World Hockey Challenge Development Camp.

The camp runs July 17–21 in Oakville, ON.

Shingoose, drafted by the Raiders in 2025, played his rookie season with RHA Winnipeg U18 Prep in 2025-26.

The 16-year-old was a point per game player, as he scored 15 goals and added 16 assists for 31 points in 30 games. That was good enough to lead his team in scoring. He finished six points ahead of the team’s next leading scorer, Spencer Kuntz who had 25. Shingoose also recorded 66 penalty minutes, and a team-leading five power-play goals.

The roster at the U17 World Hockey Challenge Development Camp includes eight goaltenders, 24 defencemen, and 48 forwards, drawn from all three CHL member leagues: 29 players drafted by Western Hockey League teams, 31 selected by Ontario Hockey League clubs, and 20 drafted by Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League organizations.

Hockey Canada Program of Excellence General Manager Alan Millar spoke to the group’s talent ahead of camp: “This is a very talented and exciting group that will be surrounded by world-class coaching and support staffs, and we look forward to introducing them to our program, setting the expectations for the season and preparing for the U17 World Challenge later this year.”
