Candle Lake Provincial Park

Candle Lake Provincial Park is turning 40, and you’re invited to the party! Join us for a birthday bash that celebrates the legacy of the park with lakeside laughs and adventures for the whole family.

1 – 5 p.m. – Lakeside Celebration Station

  • Stop by this self-use festival hub to kick off your day at Candle Lake! Enjoy bubbles and games, snap a keepsake photo at the themed photo booth and gather event info to make the most of the 40th-anniversary celebration.

1 – 2 p.m. – Candle Lake in a Jar

  • Discover the unique ecosystem of Candle Lake and the fish species that call it home, then create your own mini ‘Candle Lake’ as a memento!

2 – 3 p.m. – 40 Years on the Shore

  • Leave your legacy on the shore! Grab your team and build your best lakeside-inspired creation in this sandcastle building competition – think wildlife, waves and shoreline scenes – for a friendly competition with family and friends.

3 – 4 p.m. – Cupcakes Celebration

  • Stop by our cupcake table and treat yourself to the most delicious part of a birthday celebration!

3 – 4 p.m. – Purple Sand Artscape

  • Create your own stunning sand art inspired by Candle Lake’s shoreline! Use colourful layers, including the park’s unique purple sand, to design a take-home landscape and learn about this unique geological feature.

4 – 5 p.m. – Geocaching Cache and Release

  • Candle Lake is home to many types of wild fish species. Trade in your rod for a GPS as you answer clues to cache them all and make your very own Candle Lake Angler Guide to take home.

7 – 8:30 p.m. – Beachside Legacy Lounge

  • Take in the evening sun and concert with a classic Candle Lake activity fireside smore’s

7 – 8:30 p.m. – SCMA Concert

Guaranteed to be like nothing you’ve ever seen or heard before, Jackfish Reunion will take the stage. Dress for the weather and don’t forget your blankets, bug spray and lawn chair.

This event is free with a valid park entry permit.
