Sylvia Joyce Macdonald
1938 – 2026
The family of Sylvia “Joyce” Macdonald (nee Wiggens) is sad to announce her passing on February 16, 2026, in Birch Hills, SK after years of struggling with Dementia.
Joyce was born in Prince Albert, SK on August 26, 1938. She was raised on farm life in Northside and later Spruce Home. She lived a nomadic, adventurous lifestyle with her husband and two children moving from SK, YK, BC, and back to SK in the mid 1980’s. Joyce loved being outdoors and often wished she had a hobby farm. She preferred mowing the grass and gardening over indoor chores both as a child and as an adult. She loved to dance, play cards, and carpet bowl with the senior’s club in Birch Hills.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Reg; parents, Thora and Obert Wiggens; and brother-in-law, Alan Wallace. Her sister Pat McKale passed away a month after she did.
Joyce will be missed by her daughter, Karen; son, John; 4 grandchildren Brandon, Charlene (Stephan), Shayne (Erin), and Ali (Jon); as well as her 4 great grandchildren Ethan, Barrett, Myles, and Amelia. Surviving her as well is her sisters, Louise and Carol; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold her love in their hearts.
A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2026, at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. A time for fellowship will follow. Joyce will be interred with her parents at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Mont St. Joseph and Weldon Care Home for their years of care given to her, as well as the staff at Birchview Care Home where she lived for several weeks and came to rest in peace.
We also wish to thank Lisa Bos-Atchison and Austin Atchison, and all the staff of Gray’s Funeral Chapel and Prince Albert Memorial Garden for their professional and compassionate assistance and care during this difficult time.
