Prince Albert murder trial stopped, defence lawyer accused of sleeping
Amidst allegations that a lawyer was caught sleeping in the courtroom, a Prince Albert murder trial has come to a sudden stop.
Quinton Gardiner, one of two men accused in the death of Norman Wenzel on Canada Day in 2024, has fired his lawyer.
On Tuesday, as he had done the week before, Gardiner asked for proceedings at Court of King’s Bench to stop, claiming his lawyer had his eyes closed and was presumably sleeping in the courtroom.
He also said a juror and a deputy sheriff had seen it.
