Eric Lewis Wilkinson passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2026, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 43 with his wife by his side. Eric was born on October 6, 1982, in Prince Albert, SK, second son of Tim Wilkinson and Carol Lorensen.
Eric grew up on an acreage in the Lily Plain area and went to West Central and then MacDowall School. He later completed Grade 12 at Carlton Comprehensive High School.
When he was young, Eric enjoyed playing soccer, riding his motorbike, fishing at the river and spending as much time as he could with his friends and family. He would spend hours taking things apart to figure out how they work, sometimes even putting them back together correctly! He was always very mechanically inclined and would work on his motorcycles or vehicles to “supe them up” or simply keep them running. He could ALWAYS be heard coming LONG before you could see his little red car!
Eric met the love of his life, Lisa Zelensky, at age 17 and knew they were destined for forever. They moved to Regina, SK, where Eric went on to obtain a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Upon graduation, Eric and Lisa moved to Calgary where he started his career in the oil industry. While in Calgary, Eric became a massive Calgary Flames fan and enjoyed going to as many games as he could.
Eric and Lisa were married on September 22, 2007, and were blessed with two daughters, Locklan (2011) and Jade (2014). He enjoyed taking the girls to the Zoo and seeing the delight in their faces when the animals would make an appearance, taking the girls to Calaway Park, spending hours with them in the hot tub, teaching them how to be dog lovers, and snorkeling with them in the lake to catch crayfish. He loved to cook and was always experimenting with different recipes and concoctions on the BBQ, smoker, or Big Green Egg. He even tried his hand at baking – specializing in donuts & buns!
In 2019 Eric and his family moved to Cold Lake, Alberta for a new career opportunity and settled on an acreage. The move also brought them closer to Candle Lake, where he loved spending time with family and friends and was known for his roaring campfires.
Eric was fiercely loyal to those he loved. Behind his tough outside was someone who cared deeply and was always there when you needed him. He was especially proud of completing the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer twice, in memory of loved ones.
Eric had MANY people in his life that he cared deeply about and who cared deeply for him. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and their children, Locklan, and Jade; his Dad, Tim (Marion); his Mom, Carol; his brothers, Chad (Lindsay) and children, Embrie, Camdyn, and Larkyn; Dayne (Stephanie) and children, Everett, and Bryton; Joey (Evelyn) and children, Gavin, and Lily; and Josh (Lizzy) and child, Griffin Grehan; his grandmother-in-law, Sophie Zelensky; his parents in-law, Brian and Janet Zelensky; his brother-in-law, Glen Zelensky; his sisters-in-law, Tracey (Sean) and children, Jackson, and Carter Gray, Nicole (Keith), and children, Brooklyn, and Jacob Winder, Paige (Colby) and children, Owen Hing, Ben, and Layne Harmatiuk, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, & cousins.
