“You’ve got to be really careful. I specialize in Canadian-made solid wood furniture. You can’t just have anybody deliver it for you,” she said.

Nyirfa explained that before her husband died six years ago.

He handled deliveries and setups, making sure everything was done properly before he left a customer’s home. Since then, she has run the business on her own. 

Over the years, she said, the business built a loyal customer base, adding that the former tenant at the downtown location was a waterbed store. 

“We had lots of customers who bought their first waterbed through Daryl. Over the years, we grew from just bedroom furniture to dining room furniture, living room furniture, and anything custom-made in Canadian solid wood. They came back and supported us.” 

“The Chamber extends our warmest wishes to Laurie as Country Comfort Bedrooms closes after an incredible 40 years in business,” Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce CEO Patricia Hughes said in a statement to paNOW.

“The store filled an unique niche in our market, offering quality, comfort and a personal touch that made a lasting impact in our community. While we are sad to see this chapter come to a close, we are deeply grateful for the decades of service and commitment to Prince Albert. Wishing every success in the next chapter of the journey as she continues to operate within the business community.”
