UPDATED WITH SERVICE DETAILS
Robert Douglas “Bob” Borrowman, the fourth son of Orville James “OJ” and Reta Elizabeth (Johnston) Borrowman of Prince Albert, SK, was born January 25, 1949. He passed away at home due to diabetic complications on December 6, 2025, aged 76.
Cars were in Bob’s blood. He owned several service stations and worked on all kinds of vehicles, then specialized in hot rods and custom cars “from the wheel nuts up” in his home shop for customers throughout Western Canada. A rusted hulk dragged in could emerge with factory specs, but more likely with a custom frame and suspension, a powerful modern engine, electronic gauges, air conditioning, glistening paint, a plush interior (often created by his brother Buck), and other special touches. “If they had enough money to make it happen”, Bob would complete their dreams. His large photo collection chronicles a life of automotive excellence and acknowledgement of his effort is seen in a basement over-filled with just some of his trophies. In recent years, Bob shifted to specialty automotive appraisals for insurance companies and hobbyists; he had a reputation for excellence at this as well.
Bob was a founding member of the original PA Coachmen Car Club and a respected member of the local Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub. His enthusiastic support of their events can be seen by his enormous T-shirt collection. He will be missed by his car club friends at those events and their weekly coffee at the 6th Ave A&W, as well as by friends and family far and wide.
Bob is survived by his son, Tyler (Miki Sasagawa) Borrowman; stepmother, Iris-Borrowman Clark; brothers, Morgan (Linda) Borrowman, Roy “Buck” (Betty) Borrowman, Bruce (Pat) Borrowman, and Gordon (Benita) Borrowman; sisters, Lois Borrowman, Cathy Bendle, and Tanya (Steve) Tompkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Reta, in 1950; father, Orville “OJ”, in 1987; grandparents, Drs. Minnie and Thomas Edgar Borrowman (who primarily raised the boys after Reta’s death); oldest brother, Dale and wife Maggie Borrowman; Tyler’s mother, Anne (Kacher) Borrowman; brother-in-law, Cecil Bendle; and step-father, Ken Clark.
