May 22, 2026 | 12:02 PM

Lloydminster is set to host Saskatchewan’s biggest week in curling after securing both the province’s men’s and women’s championships for 2027.

The city announced Thursday the 2027 SaskTel Tankard and Bunge Prairie Pinnacle championships will be held at the Cenovus Energy Hub from Jan. 10 to 17, 2027. Presented by CURLSASK, the event will bring top teams from across the province to compete for provincial titles and spots at national championships.

The combined championships are expected to draw athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and fans from across the province, bringing economic and community benefits to the region.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers said the announcement reflects Lloydminster’s growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events.

“Cenovus Energy Hub was designed to host these sort of events, and this is an opportunity to showcase our community and our hospitality,” he stated.

Local organizers and the Lloydminster Curling Club will work alongside CURLSASK to host the championships, with volunteer recruitment and sponsorship opportunities expected to begin later this year.

The city said the week-long event is also expected to feature family-friendly activities, youth engagement opportunities and interactive fan experiences.

More information on tickets, volunteers and event programming is expected to be released at later dates.
