1951 – 2026
It is with sadness that the family of the Rev George Yando announce his passing on April 22, 2026. George was born in St. Catherines, Ontario on October 2, 1951, and raised in Dunnville, Ontario.
George was married to Beth Anne Clifton August 30, 1980. They had two children: son, Geordie (Sharlene) and grandchildren Kaz, Kaiden, Sam and Savanh; and daughter, Beth. George is also survived by his brother Jim (Shelly) and nieces Stephanie, April, and Tiffany; his sister Pam (Wes); his brother-in-law Lloyd Clifton (Carol Anne), niece Carrie and nephew Lloyd; sister-in-law Janet Meesters (Richard), niece Katerina and nephew Galen. George was predeceased by his mother Mable, father Frank, and sister Diane.
After working for a few years, George entered Knox College of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, graduating in 1986. While a student at Knox George served the Pastoral charge of Woodville and South Eldon. Upon graduation he was appointed to Inverness, Thedford Mines, and Kinear’s Mills in Quebec. George also served churches in Kemptville and King City in Ontario. In 1998 George and family came to Prince Albert where he ministered at St. Paul’s and Mistawasis Memorial Presbyterian Church on the Mistawasis Cree First Nations. George retired from full time ministry in 2009 but continued to help out St. James in Melfort, St. Andrews in North Battleford, as well as St. Andrew’s in Saskatoon, and wherever he could be of use.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK.
Memorial donations in memory of George may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
