During his visit, the minister will attend the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), a tradeshow showcasing high-end goods and a major gateway to entering markets in China. 

Sigurdson will represent Alberta at the CICPE Country of Honour Reception, which will feature Canada as the country of honour. He will also highlight Alberta’s beef, liquor and beer industries during promotional events and a cooking demonstration. 

China is Alberta’s third-largest export market for agri-food products following the U.S. and Japan. In 2025, Alberta’s agri-food exports to China totaled $1.4 billion, making it Canada’s second-largest provincial agri-food exporter to China after Saskatchewan.
