Wayne Wolffe
1943 – 2026
The family of Wayne Alexander Robert Wolffe sadly announce his passing on March 25, 2026. Wayne Wolffe was born on June 26, 1943, to Alexander and Katherine (Gruber) Wolffe in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He lived his youth in Meath Park until he attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Science and later Bachelor of Education degrees.
Before getting his second degree, Wayne taught in Dinsmore for a year and Porcupine Plain for two years. While in University money was quite absent, so he and his friend John Ewanchyna mailed each other cigarettes. Weirdos!
He later lived with John and Sylvia and their young family of 3 while going to his next job as Supervisor of Education at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. He worked there for 12 years until 1982, then went to Meath Park to teach for Saskatchewan Rivers School District.
In 1998, after completing 30 years of teaching, he retired so he could enjoy his cabin at Candle Lake that he’d built with Merrel and Emil Berg.
Wayne married Lillian Manegre on September 28, 1974, and they had three children: Shane (1979), Jason (1980) and Kristen (1982).
He loved fishing and hunting and did plenty of that until he began feeding deer in front of his cabin. He made a pet out of Beauty. If her crabapples and grain weren’t in her dish because of our tardiness, she would come up on the deck and into the cabin looking for her food tray.
Wayne enjoyed pulling friends behind the boat and then later our children. He wasn’t a beach person, so he took the children and grandchildren fishing, which they enjoyed.
Wayne’s health declined significantly when he had a stroke on October 8, 2025, which put him in the hospital until the first week of December. He was home until March 18th when he had a second stroke and passed on March 25, 2026.
He is survived by his loving family. His wife Lillian of 51 years; sons Shane and Jason (Morgan Hobin) and grandson Matieus; and daughter Kristen and grandchildren Nevaeh-Lilli, Hunter-Wayne, Willow, and Aspen; his sister Lori Isinger and brother Ken Wolffe; brother-in-law Emil Berg, niece Mel Isinger, nephew Brad Berg (Brian Rolfes), niece Thyra (Ray Esau); his sister-in-law Laurette (Ian) Cockburn, Susan Dubeau and Dean Cockburn; nephews Wayne (Sherry), Gordon (Bonnie), Gerry (Lisa) Bueckert, and niece Judy (Dave) Pask. Many other wonderful surviving family members and friends. Too many to name.
He was pre-deceased by his father, Alex Wolffe; mother, Katherine Brule; sister Merrel Berg, brother-in-law Bob Isinger and Bob’s children Dawne, Doug and baby Richard; father-in-law Paul Manegre and mother-in-law Jeanne Manegre; sister-in-law Paulette Bueckert; brothers-in-law Abe and John Bueckert; and nephew Dean Bueckert.
We would like to thank the Victoria Hospital’s doctors, nurses and all other hospital staff for the wonderful way they treated Wayne and his family during his illness.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West in Prince Albert, SK. A time for fellowship and refreshments will follow.
