Ananas re-elected chief of Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation

Edwin Ananas has been re-elected to serve a third term as chief at Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation.

As per Monday’s election results, Ananas received 668 votes. Hal Cameron was the runner up with 235 votes.

Following recent changes to the band’s election act, there are now eight sitting councillors versus six.

The elected councillors are Leighanne Gardipy, Sonia Gardypie, Nicole Gamble, Sheryl Okemaysim, Tyler Smallchild, Shaun Yahyahkeekoot, Connie Mike and Kirby Scott.

Gardipy and Gamble were re-elected.
