Edith Kushneriuk
July 4, 1938 – March 20, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Edith Kushneriuk announce her passing on March 20, 2026, at the age of 87 years.
Edith was born on July 4, 1938, in Meskanaw, Saskatchewan, the youngest of seven children born to Kathleen and John Demeter. She met the love of her life, George at a wedding dance in Buchanan in 1957 and they were married in 1959. Mom and Dad began a lifelong partnership built on devotion, family, and shared memories. Together, they built a life in Saskatoon before moving to Prince Albert in 1973, where they raised their family and generously contributed their time to the community.
Mom’s greatest joy came from her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband George and children: Sharon (Chris), Jeff (Linda), and Tracey (Scott); and daughter-in-law Leigh. She was predeceased by her beloved son Mark in 2004, whom she carried in her heart always. Mom was blessed with twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. Ryan Knudsen (Martine) Lemmy, Emma, Sarah Beaulac (Justin) Brinley, Nixie, Cali, Brendan Kushneriuk (Dominique) Luke, James, Matthew Kushneriuk (Jennifer) Reese, Sadie, Wells, Breanne Kushneriuk, Jonathan Kushneriuk (Bryttany) Cameron, Michelle Kushneriuk, Myles Kushneriuk, Chad Kushneriuk (Izzy), Cailin Pocock (Thomas) Hudson, Nora, Madelyn Perrault (Hunter) Hazel, Harper and Eryn McHardy.
Mom was a woman of deep faith and a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. She gave generously of her time and compassion through her volunteer work with the Church, Meals on Wheels and Grandmothers for Grandmothers, always looking for ways to support and uplift others in her community.
Mom was a wonderful cook, and everyone left full, full of love, laughter and smiles. Her garden was a source of pride and joy, abundant with fruits and vegetables, especially her strawberries, often prepared and served over ice cream, crepes or cake. Together, Mom and Dad took pride in creating and maintaining their beautiful yard and garden. Their care and dedication drew admiration from neighbors and passersbys alike. People would often stop to chat and compliment them on their yard and flowers, which was recognized with several Prince Albert Golden Spade Awards.
Mom and Dad shared a love of travel, exploring Canada from east to west and venturing throughout the United States on memorable family road trips. They also enjoyed curling and golf and traveling to Qualicum Beach, Bermuda, and the Dominican Republic, always creating lasting friendships and treasured experiences along the way. Mom had a deep love for music and dancing and shared this passion with Dad.
In her later years, Mom faced the gradual onset of Alzheimer’s with strength and dignity. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mont St. Joseph for their compassionate care and kindness during this time.
Mom, your warmth, your unwavering love for your family, and your gentle, giving spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
