It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Gay Bennett-Taylor on January 18, 2026, at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert surrounded by her family. Dorothy leaves behind her loving husband, Harvey Taylor; their fur-baby Lexie; her sister Lisa (Warren) Morash; and sister-in law Gail Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Pauline Bennett; parents-in-law Melville and Winnie Taylor; and brother-in-law Fred Taylor.
Dorothy was born in Elrose Hospital on August 10, 1961. Shortly after, her parents made the move to Spruce Home where Dorothy grew up and attended Spruce Home Elementary School and then Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert, SK. She carried on with her education and received her certificate in Business Administration. After completing her course, she worked in a temporary position at Prince Albert Housing Authority where she met the love of her life, Harvey. They were inseparable and they made their home in Prince Albert. She started her lifetime career working at West Hill Chiropractic Clinic for Dr. Dave Buettner and then continued working with Dr. Mark Boden, Dr. Janelle Braun, and Dr. Eric Brosheim. She loved her career and would often comment on how lucky she was to have such great people to work with. They were not just her employers, they were her friends. She took early retirement in May of 2024 so she could focus on spending time with Harvey in their beautiful backyard. Sitting in the sun on their deck, listening to music and enjoying all the beautiful flowers was just one of the things Dorothy loved to do.
Dorothy was an artist at heart. Her love of the arts started at a young age as she would go to ceramics with her mom. She then took on cross stitch, folk art painting, stained glass, and then discovered photography. She found beauty in the simple things in life, capturing them on film with a unique perspective. Dorothy had a passion for food that brought us all together. Laughter and love were the main ingredients in every dish she prepared. Whether through her gourmet cooking or her love of photography, she inspired us all to see the world through a more colorful lens. Her artistic spirit will be missed. She faced her illness with unwavering grace and such strength. Even on hard days, her smile filled the room. She had the rare gift of being able to connect with all those who she met on her path in life. Her kindness showed in her smile and calling each person by name made them feel special. Her heart was as big as that smile. She will be missed forever by her family and friends.
We want to thank Dr. Kriel, the palliative home care team, and the staff at the Rose Garden Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Dorothy during her illness. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
