Virginia Hope Edstrom passed away on March 7, 2026 at Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert, SK.
She is survived by her children David (Roxanne) Edstrom, Tanis Edstrom, Earla (Ron) Brandt; siblings Verna Legg, Victor (Noreen) Demoskoff, Barbara Ammeter and Robert Ammeter; grandchildren Joel Luyt and Zane Edstrom. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Edstrom.
Mom was born on August 17, 1940 to Alex and Anne Demoskoff in a farm house six miles north of Kinley, SK. Mom attended public school in a one room school house in Henrietta, SK, and later attended high school in Langham, SK.
Mom moved to Winnipeg, MB where she became a long-distance telephone operator later moving to Alberta where she met Earl Edstrom.
Dad pipelined and their first of many adventures took them and us kids to Valdez, AK and later to Delta Junction, AK. Together, Mom and Dad traveled all over Canada and the United States, making many lifelong friends.
The family moved back to Canada in 1977, and bought the farm at Grandora, SK. “Fun on the Farm” saw Mom raising different breeds of chickens, geese, ducks, sheep, pigs and cattle. Mom loved gardening and tended impressive vegetable gardens, numerous flower beds and house plants.
Mom was active in the Asquith Community, volunteering at the rink and school, and was Honoured Royal Lady of the OORP. Mom was chauffer, taking David to hockey, Tanis to track meets and coaching Earla in ringette and softball.
Mom lived many adventures and had a wonderful life, gold panning, deep sea fishing, clam digging, gardening, playing ball, curling, bowling, painting and pottery making.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Good Shepherd Villa who took such good care and loved Mom.
A family service will be held on August 10, 2026 at Henrietta Cemetery.
