Prince Albert police report spike in vehicle thefts
Following a recent spike in vehicle thefts, the Prince Albert Police Service is reminding residents that idling cars are easy targets for opportunistic criminals.
In January 2026, there were 41 reported vehicle thefts, which is 16 more than the same time last year.
In 2025, there were 417 vehicle thefts, which is a 29 per cent increase from the previous year, and 122 of those vehicle thefts occurred in the fourth quarter.
Prince Albert Police Service Public Relations and Media Lead Easton Hamm said vehicle thefts often increase when the temperatures drop.
