‘British Bulldog’ gets ready to rumble in Prince Albert

Feb 23, 2026 | 4:58 PM

Despite growing up as a member of Canada’s most famous wrestling family, Harry Smith says he never felt any pressure and just loved the business.

Smith, who wrestles under the name Davey Boy Smith Jr., a tribute to his legendary father, is the special guest star during Canadian Wrestling’s Elite’s (CWE) latest Canadian tour that will include stops this week in Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

Smith is the son of “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and grandson to the late Stu Hart.

“If there was any pressure it was good pressure but to me that’s how everyday life was. Being at my grandfather Stu’s house and training in the dungeon and seeing all kinds of characters come though the dungeon and through the swinging doors to the dining room for Sunday dinners.”

Stu Hart, the patriarch of the Hart family and founder of Stampede Wrestling, passed away in 2003.

Smith, who like his grandfather has a passion for submission style wrestling, has fond memories wrestling with his grandfather on the living room floor, and said he wishes his grandfather was still around so he could share stories of the old wrestling shooters.

Even in his later years, Stu was well known for making many young, strong men scream out in pain.

Smith was only 16 when his own father passed away in 2002. Acknowledging it was a very difficult time in his life, Smith said he takes great pride incorporating some of his father’s and family’s famous moves including the “running powerslam” and the “sharpshooter” – a move made famous by Bret “The Hitman” Hart.

“It’s always great to do that here in Canada because the fans get to remember and I think it’s a good memory for them,” he said.

In October, 2007, Smith made his television debut with WWE on an episode of RAW as “DH Smith” and defeated Carlito using his father’s trademark running powerslam.

From 2009 to 2011, Smith, along with Natalya Neidhart and TJ Wilson formed the Hart Dynasty. Looking back on the opportunity to share the ring and travel with his family members, Smith said it was memorable and he also enjoyed when a seven-foot Indian giant known as the Great Khali would tag along.

“You walk into an iHOP at 11 p.m. and a group of us comes in, everyone is gonna be looking at us but it was a lot of fun and a lot of good memories,” Smith said.

After WWE, Smith went on to wrestle for All Japan Wrestling where in 2024 he won the AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship—a rare feat for a Westerner. Smith called it his proudest accomplishment in wrestling.

“They gave me the chance and the opportunity so you know I took the ball and ran with it,” he said.

Thursday night’s show in Prince Albert at Plaza 88 includes a matchup between Smith and CWE Tag Team Champion Derek Diggler.

Commenting on how proud he is to be a part of CWE’s 17th anniversary tour, Smith who has performed for crowds of all sizes all around the world, said he enjoys the more intimate and personal feel the independent circuit provides.

“If there’s 50 people in the crowd or 5,000, it’s my duty as a professional to give them the best out of me that I possibly can.”

Also included on the card is new CWE Heavyweight Champion CAM!!Ikaze,”Chizzled” Chad Daniels, “Crude Oil” Cody Mac and “Hotshot” Danny Duggan.
