Archive Week aims to honour and promote provincial heritage
Events are planned across the province throughout next week as the Saskatchewan Council for Archives and Archivists (SCAA) gears up for their annual Archive Week.
Celebrated each year during the first full week of February, the SCAA first introduced Archive Week in 2006. In the past, it has included events like phone-in shows over the radio, celebrity readings, open houses, and screenings of archives from across Saskatchewan.
2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the SCAA. Executive Director Gloria Bearss explained the goal of the celebration, aiming to honour the provinces heritage and promote archival institutions.
“We love to showcase all the innovative and creative ways that our members incorporate archives into the daily lives of their communities, and it has become a celebration of their dedication and successes,” she said via email. “This was a union that brought together archivists, institutions, and advocates with a shared commitment to preserving and making Saskatchewan’s documentary heritage accessible.”
