Suspect strikes police cruiser with ATV in Turnor Lake
Shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 27, Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a report of an assault in Turnor Lake, a northern hamlet located in central-northwestern Saskatchewan, about 90 kilometres north of Buffalo Narrows.
Officers responded to a home to investigate and located the suspect driving an ATV. Officers initiated a traffic stop, using a police cruiser to block the road, but the suspect fled the scene, striking a police cruiser with his ATV as he left. There was minor damage to the vehicle and no injuries were reported.
The suspect was later located and arrested. RCMP have charged 24-year old Andrew Morin from Turnor Lake with several charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief equal to or under $5,000 and two coutns of assault on police officer with weapon. He also received tickets related to ATV operation.
Morin was scheduled to appear in La Loche Provincial Court on Jan. 29.
