Alina Gatzke

Alina Gatzke passed away surrounded by loving family on January 2/2026 in Wakaw, SK.

Alina was born to Alma and Albert Gatzke in Poland, where she immigrated and attended school in Nokomis, SK.

Later in Alina’s life she married George Lacerte, and together they were blessed with two children.

After many years of marriage Alina and George divorced. After the divorce Alina resided in Saskatoon where she worked at the City Hospital until 1995 and retired to Wakaw, SK.

Alina enjoyed camping, wine making, hiking, berry picking, painting, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed her life in Wakaw and cherished her new friendships she made until her stroke in 2020. After Alina moved to Prince Albert to live with family. Due to health decline she later moved to Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw, May of 2025 and remained there until her passing.

Alina will be missed by family:

Two children: Pam Walter and Merle Lacert,

Grandchildren: Rochelle Smallchild,(Colleen) William Sawitsky,Gabriel Sawitsky,

Great Grandchildren:Chayce Griffin,Rae-lynn Gatzke(Colton), Marius Smallchild,Syria Smallchild, Azura Smallchild and Azrael Smallchild

Alina was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Alma(née Kratz) brother, Eigan, sister Elfriede(Vincent), brother Erv, grandson Lorne Walter, great grandchildren Namira Smallchild and Thorin Smallchild. She leaves to mourn a brother Sig of Nokomis, Herb of Watrous, Robert (Judy) Fort Mcleod, Alberta, Rudy (Sharon) of Regina, Harry, Ed of Calgary Alberta along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family wishes to thank all friends and relatives for all the kind words and support, as well as to the staff at the Lakeview Lodge for all their compassion and support. At moms request there will not be a funeral service at this time, with a Celebration of Life occurring in the future.
