Woman charged after gun found following 2nd Street E. standoff with police

A 29-year-old woman is facing multiple gun and weapons charges following an incident in the 900 block of 2nd Street East on New Year’s Day.

Prince Albert Police were called out just after 9 p.m. for the report of a man with a gun and that he was in a physical altercation with two woman.

Community members online identified the area as Village Green Apartments, which are operated by Prince Albert Public Housing, and reported hearing loudspeaker demands for suspects to come out of a building.

A patrol unit and the Crime Reduction Team responded to the initial call of the man with the gun, but when they looked at surveillance footage, found two women approaching one of the units. When the suite door opened, an altercation began between the women and the man and included a long-barreled gun.

After the altercation was over, the man went back inside the suite and the women went into a different suite in the same complex, holding the gun.

Because of the presence of firearms, officers categorized it is a critical incident and called in specialized resources. They said the unit had been barricaded and responded by a surround-and-call-out.

All of the individuals exited the residence voluntarily, and a search warrant was subsequently executed, leading to the seizure of a .177 Caliber Air Rifle.

As a result of this investigation, a 29-year-old woman has been charged with multiple firearms and weapons related charges. She is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on January 13, 2026.

The Prince Albert Police Service Critical Incident Response is the co-ordinated deployment of command, tactical, negotiation, and specialist resources under a unified incident command structure to manage high-risk or complex events.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Proactive Policing Unit, Saskatchewan RCMP and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency also assisted with this investigation.
