RCMP investigating another firearm discharge on Big Island Lake Cree Nation
Pierceland RCMP are investigating whether another report of gunfire on Big Island Lake Cree Nation is connected to the dangerous persons alert earlier in the week.
At around 10:50 p.m. Friday, police received multiple reports of a firearm being discharged on the reserve. Upon arrival, officers did not locate any injured people or firearms.
RCMP continue to investigate with help from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battlefords Provincial General Investigation Section. Part of the investigation will be determining if there is any connection to the shooting on Dec. 30, which triggered a local dangerous persons alert, which is still being investigated by the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit.
Residents in the area are advised that an increased police presence will be seen in the community as the investigations continue. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
