Raiders run through Broncos in Christmas break return

Dec 27, 2025 | 11:29 PM

After a short seven day break, the Prince Albert Raiders got back into the action as the top team in the league against the bottom team in the league, the Swift Current Broncos. With an influx of forwards after some injuries and illnesses, the Raiders 13 forwards dressed and put together one of their most dominant efforts of the season for a 7-1 win.

At the 5:08 mark, the Raiders opened the scoring off a faceoff. Max Heise won the draw to Jonah Sivertson, and he quickly sent the puck to the right point for Daxon Rudolph. He walked in, then ripped his shot for his first of the game and 15th of the year.

Just over a minute later, the Raiders scored again. Benett Kelly dumped the puck into the zone, then Aiden Oiring followed into the zone and threw a big hit to get the puck loose. He sent it behind the net for Brayden Dube, and Dube then walked out and fired a great wrist shot short side for his 12th of the year at 6:49.

After the Raiders killed off their first penalty kill of the game, the Broncos were able to take advantage of a mis-mashed unit of players on the ice. After the puck was dumped in, Jaxen Gauchier won the race to it and found Trae Wilke wide open on the other side of the slot, and he fired a wrist shot to score at 10:35.

On the Raiders first powerplay, they were able to score. At the 19:02 mark, Justice Christensen got the puck in the middle of the blueline, then sent it right side for Alisher Sarkenov. He wound up for a slapshot, but then sent a pass into the slot where it bounced out to Riley Boychuk, and he fired at the wide open net for his seventh of the year.

After 1: Raiders 3 – 1 Broncos, shots 21-6 Raiders

The Raiders were in control all second period long, but it took all the way until the 17:03 mark to score. After the Broncos had some trouble clearing the puck out of the zone, Owen Corkish quickly stepped up into the play and took the puck away in the corner, then centred it for Alisher Sarkenov streaking into the slot who scored his seventh of the year.

At the 19:41 mark, Hubert Clarke and Brayden Dube cycled the puck in the zone until they could find Daxon Rudolph. Again he came down the right wall, and Rudolph fired a shot under the bar short side for his second of the night and 16th of the year.

After 2: Raiders 5 – 1 Broncos, shots 15-5 Raiders, 36-11 Raiders overall

In the third period, the Raiders again added to the lead at the 6:33 mark. Jonah Sivertson centred the puck out of the corner for Max Heise, but he couldn’t shoot and tried instead to wrap it around the net. Heise was denied, and the Broncos stopped playing when they thought goaltender Joey Rocha had covered the puck. Instead, the puck was still loose, and Maddix McCagherty found the rebound and tucked it in for his 10th of the season.

Finally at the 11:09 mark, Ethan Bibeau won a puck battle in the corner and sent it out for Connor Howe. He cycled the puck up the right wall towards the point before dropping it back on the wall for Linden Burrett following out of the corner, and he turned into the slot before toedragging around a defender and firing home his fourth of the year.

FINAL: Raiders 7 – 1 Broncos, shots 11-7 Raiders, 47-18 Raiders overall

With two goals on the night, Daxon Rudolph now has 9G-7A in the last nine games. Last year, Rudolph put up a 12 game point streak that started January 1 and ended January 29 where he put up 2G-15A in that time.

Making his first return to the Prince Albert Raiders for the first time since November 14, Alisher Sarkenov posted a goal and an assist. Sarkenov was gone for over a month with his home country Kazahkstan’s World Juniors qualifying tournament, but in his last three games as a Raider he has 3G-1A.

The Raiders will play host to the Broncos in a rematch on Monday.
