SUNTEP students deliver Christmas gifts to local families in need

Dec 18, 2025 | 1:56 PM

Thanks to the efforts of students at SUNTEP and staff at the Real Canadian Wholesale Club, six local families in the Prince Albert area will have a very Merry Christmas.

As part of a tradition that started 15 years ago, the grocer donated food for hampers and the students raised $900 for gifts. The pick up and drop offs occurred Thursday morning.

Beige Unger, a faculty member at SUNTEP, noted the initiative evolved from being able to sponsor one family to now providing hampers for six families with school age children.

Each hamper includes items for a traditional Christmas dinner, and extra groceries to support families over the holidays.

SUNTEP partnered with six schools in Prince Albert this year and the schools chose the recipient families.

In a press release, SUNTEP said the Christmas Hamper Program highlights the importance of community partnerships and the positive impact that collaboration can have in spreading care and holiday cheer.
