Mintos set to face Warman in final games of first half

Dec 18, 2025 | 1:48 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos have just two games remaining on the schedule ahead of the holidays, both against the Warman Wildcats.

The Highway 11 rivals will face off on Thursday night at the Art Hauser Centre in P.A., before rematching on Sunday afternoon at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex.

The Mintos enter the game on a three-game skid, having been outscored by their opponents 22-5 over those three contests. Prince Albert also has just one win in their last five games, which came back on Dec. 6 in 4-2 fashion over Moose Jaw at home. Currently, the Mintos don an 11-12-1-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record and sit in ninth in league standings, just one spot shy of a playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats also come into P.A. on a bit of a down after being swept in their weekend doubleheader in Swift Current last weekend. Prior to that though, Warman was riding a four-game winning streak. The Wildcats are 13-9-1-0 on the year, placing them sixth in the standings. Warman was also one of three teams from the SMAAAHL to be invited to the Circle K Classic in Calgary later this month, alongside Regina and Moose Jaw.

The last time Prince Albert and Warman squared off was back on Nov. 22 when the Wildcats cruised to a 6-2 victory in Warman. After these back-to-back contests, the Mintos and Wildcats will meet again on Jan. 27 in P.A. for the final time this season.

Leading the charge on the scoresheet is Maxim Cooper with 20 points (8g-12a), followed by Liam Myhre with 18 (6g-12a), Xander Pritchard with 16 (11g-5a), Barret Berger with 14 (5g-9a), and Cruz Stacey with 13 (8g-5a). In net, Wyatt Nelson dons a 6-3-1-0 record along with a 3.82 GAA and a 0.888 SV%, while Jaden Blanchette has a record of 4-9-0-0 to pair with a 4.36 GAA and a 0.897 SV%.

Warman is led by Sam Failler, who’s got 30 points (13g-17a) this season, followed by Dade Wotherspoon with 29 (14g-15a) and Cash Arcand-Vandale (7g-13a). Between the pipes, Seth Gutenberg has an 8-5-1-0 record with a 2.63 GAA and a 0.913 SV%, while Jacob Appleby holds a 3.04 GAA and a 0.897 SV%.

Puck drop on Thursday is slated for 7 p.m., while Sunday’s start is at 3:45 p.m.
