Swimming lesson registration to open at Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre

Dec 11, 2025 | 11:05 AM

Swimmers in Prince Albert will soon have the chance to take winter lessons at the new Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre.

The city announced on Thursday that registration for swimming lessons will open to Prince Albert residents on Dec. 15 at 8 a.m. Course offerings will be posted on Dec. 12 to give families and those interested to plan their schedules. Non-resident registration will open on Dec. 20.

“Providing more families with the opportunity to learn essential water skills is a priority,” said Riley Janes, Prince Albert’s Acting Recreation Coordinator – Aquatics, in a release. “As our team grows, we are excited to offer more lessons and meet the strong community interest in aquatic programs.”

According to the city, the demand for swimming lessons has only grown since the new Leisure Centre opened in September. More than 700 lesson spots will be offered for the upcoming winter session, up from around 150 spots during the fall.

The City expects the growth to continue as local aquatics teams develop, and more instructors are hired.

“This expansion reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to increasing access to aquatic programming at the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre,” read the release.

The announcement comes after the city’s only other indoor pool, the Frank J. Dunn Pool, closed at the end of June.
