It’s a contest that was a year in the making and the biggest giveaway ever on Prince Albert radio.

The 25K Giveaway came to a close Wednesday night when Diane Dupuis was drawn as the winner of a $10,000 shopping spree.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet, it’s hard to process,” she said moments after winning. “It’s a great feeling.”

The contest started in the spring and ran on all three radio stations, including 900 CKBI, Power99, and 101.5 Beach Radio.

All listeners had to do to enter was sign up or sign in to their VIP accounts. From there, 30 names were drawn on Dec. 1 and the grand prize was determined by an elimination draw Wednesday night. Prior to the grand prize draw, $5,000 prizes were given away to one lucky winner in March, June and September. With more than 30 local businesses sponsoring the contest, each of them had plenty of options to choose from on where to spend their winnings.

Now, Diane will have the same opportunity with her $10,000 prize.

“I want to split it up, do Christmas presents and spoil myself.”

Retail sales supervisor for Pattison Media in Prince Albert, Jocelyn Bovay said the 25K Giveaway is a popular contest for listeners because there’s something for any winner.

“It’s also a hyperlocal contest with shopping sprees at local businesses in and around Prince Albert,” Bovay said. “And, it’s a wide range – so you have home building to groceries to water systems and vehicles and clothing. You could get $10,000 in chicken wings if you really wanted to.”
