The family that owns the Twi-Lite Motel has donated $50,000 towards the Play it Forward campaign for the new Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre.

Sam Ismail said he recognizes the positive impacts that will come from the new facility.

“We’ve been part of the business community here since 1979, so more than 45 years and I raised our children here in Prince Albert,” he said.

One of their sons is a lifeguard at the pool.

“It’s a beautiful facility and it was a must to support it,” said Ismail.

This particular sponsorship is for the changeroom and a plaque will be placed on one of three pillars in the common area and will remain there for the life of the facility, said Dawn Kilmer, a city councillor and part of the Play it Forward Campaign.

“Sam, Naela and the Ismail family have always shown what it means to quietly support a community. Their sponsorship of the Aquatic Changeroom Entrance is another example of their steady commitment to Prince Albert. We are grateful for the way they continue to invest in spaces that matter to families,” she said.

Ismail said he sees the new twin ice pad and swimming pool facility as a sign of changes to come.

“It’s a world class facility and Prince Albert’s needed it for decades. People don’t realize the immense change it’s going to bring to the city,” he stated.

He added the new building can rival any other of its kind in Canada.
