Joanne Molly Fontaine late of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Good Shepherd Villas, in Prince Albert, SK.
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our selfless and wonderful mother and granny. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to caring for, encouraging, and lifting up those she loved. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing our mom felt her warmth immediately-she had a gift for making every person feel, seen and valued, she was a true friend to people of all ages.
She filled our lives not only with love but with laughter. Gran had a great sense of humor-quick, playful, and always able to lift the moment. Whether she was sharing a light-hearted joke, story or offering a witty comment, she brought joy to everyone around her.
Some of our most cherished memories are of the simple, joyful moments she created. Baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren, gathering everyone around the table for family dinners and filling her home with the smells, sounds and laughter of togetherness. These traditions, filled with love and warmth, are a small part of the legacy she leaves behind.
In mom’s final months she experienced a rapid decline in health, a journey she met with quiet strength even as it dimmed the world around her. Though her passing brings sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit is now free, light, peaceful, and no longer confined.
Mom leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, kindness, patience and gentle grace. Her presence shaped our lives in ways we will carry forever, and her memory will continue to guide us, just as her love always did.
We will miss her deeply but are grateful for every moment we shared with her. She will be cherished in our heart always.
In the early morning of November 19, 2025, at the age of 89, our beautiful Mother lost her battle with dementia. She was kind, thoughtful and strong and always gave so much of herself, especially to her family.
Mom’s memory will be cherished by her 5 children. Shar (Dwayne) Fontaine, and her children, Brooke (Tyler) Petit, Bree (Travis) Coleman, and Lane (Becca) Andal, Laurie (Rick), Barzeele and their sons, Blair (Kelly) Barzeele ,and Justin (Brittney) Barzeele, Colleen Daley and her sons, Taylor and Connor Daley, Patty (Clint) Hewitt, and their children Brody (Riley) Hewitt and Jessica (Mallory) Hewitt, Reg (Connie) Fontaine and their daughters, Ryan (Adam), Tobi (Owen) and Piper. She is also survived by her 8 great- grandchildren, soon to be 9, Maverick, Collins, Adria, Kellan, Theo, Cadence, Tripp and Hayes. Mom is also survived by her brother, Don Lalonde (Estelle) and her sister-in-Law, Carmelle Zurowski.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Leo, her parents, Joseph and Esther Lalonde, her sister, Esther “Sis” and her husband William Serhan; brother Charles and his wife Sandra Lalonde; and brother-in-law, Paul (Bernice) Fontaine.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alana Surkan, Dr. James and Pat Chuey and her staff at Good Shepherd Villas Care Home for the wonderful and compassionate care our mother received.
