The family of Waltraut “Trautie” Stoop lovingly celebrates her life and the joy she brought to those around her as she passed peacefully on November 11, 2025, in Prince Albert, SK. Though her departure brings sadness, her life was filled with warmth, creativity, and a deep appreciation for God’s creation and the people she met along the way.
Trautie was born on January 12, 1949, on an island off the north coast of Germany. Her journey took a remarkable turn at the age of four, when she emigrated with her family to Diamond City, Alberta. Even at a young age, she carried a gentle spirit, an adventurous nature, and a readiness to embrace new beginnings. One of the most meaningful moments of her childhood came in grade 4, when she met Kees Stoop, the boy who would later become her husband in 1972, building a home and the joy of raising their children, Loretta and Casey. They shared 34 years of marriage. Over the years, Trautie pursued several careers, each reflecting her hardworking nature and caring heart. She operated her own cleaning business, bringing energy and pride to her work. Later, she devoted herself to caring for children as a daycare cook offering patience, comfort, and kindness to the many families she supported. Travel was one of Trautie’s great joys. She loved exploring Canada, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Europe, returning to some places simply because they made her happy. Creativity was another defining part of her life. A self-taught artist and writer, she led a seniors’ art class, encouraging others to discover the joy of painting. She also proudly published a children’s book, bringing one of her dreams to life through imagination, determination, and a genuine love of storytelling.
Trautie will be cherished and remembered by her daughter, Lorie Fritz; her son, Casey Stoop; her grandchildren; her sister, Christal; and all whose lives were brightened by her gentle strength and creative spirit. She is reunited with her parents, Herbert and Lisbet Spiegelberg and her brothers, Horst and Herbert.
