Alleged carjacker enters not guilty pleas

A woman alleged responsible for a carjacking in Prince Albert has entered a number of not guilty pleas and asked to be tried by judge alone at Court of King’s Bench.

Kealee Benjamin’s attendance was waived when her matters were discussed Wednesday morning at provincial court. The pleas to robbery and multiple firearms charges, were entered by her lawyer.

Prior to trial a preliminary inquiry hearing will take place on Feb. 25, 2026. The judge will first hear the Crown’s evidence; the Crown is expected to call seven witnesses.

On Sept. 14, police were called to a business in the 2200 block of Sixth Ave. E. at 3:40 p.m. for a reported robbery and found the 30-year-old victim with no physical injuries.

Later, they found the stolen vehicle in the 600 block of 17th St. W. and followed it to the 2100 block of Second Ave. W. and pulled it over, but the occupants fled.

Benjamin was arrested later that day.

In addition to the carjacking, Benjamin was also charged with common assault. This has to do with an incident that occurred while she was in custody at Pine Grove. A guilty plea was entered on Wednesday and sentencing for that charge will occur at a later date.
