Roger James Green
January 1, 1953 – October 29, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger James Green, who left us peacefully on October 29, 2025.

Born on January 1, 1953, Roger was Shellbrook’s New Year’s baby. He completed his early education in Shellbrook and went on to earn a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba in 1977, followed by a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture in 1983.

Roger’s career and adventures took him across Western Canada, but his heart was always at home in John Dunn Estates at Delaronde Lake—his beloved “Wild Kingdom.” His life was marked by a deep love of nature, fishing, the outdoors, reading, and a creative spirit that inspired both his professional and personal pursuits. Roger was never in a hurry; he taught us all to slow down, enjoy a cup of coffee, and savour the beauty of the world around us—sunrises, sunsets, and the endless skies of the beautiful north.

He was devoted to his family, friends, and the enjoyed the community of Delaronde Lake and Big River.  Roger was always ready for a visit or to lend a helping hand. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, sense of humor, and quiet strength.

Roger is lovingly remembered by his sister Sheila (Brian) Jager; nieces and nephew Andrea (Tim) Hansen, Pamela (Chris) Soroka, and Damon (Beth) Jager; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nephews; and his special friend Nancy Glover. He was predeceased by his parents, Christina and Jim Green, and his brother, Bryce Green.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the care teams at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre and Shellbrook Hospital for their compassion and support.

A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the Big River Legion Hall. Interment will take place at a later date.

Though he may be gone from our sight, Roger will forever remain in our hearts.
