Gwen Bear, beloved wife of Gordon, late of Little Red River First Nation, SK, born Feb 28,1944 and passed away Oct 17, 2025 at the age of 81 years.
Gwen was the third child born to Richard and Selma (Carlson) Bader. Life was good on the farm with a full house and lots of love and music, and occasional shenanigans.
After high school she left for Moose Jaw, SK to study Psych Nursing. After graduating she worked at Valley View Centre. Once they moved back to the farm in 1983, Gwen nursed at North Park Centre and a few group homes and then branched out into long term care. Gwen was known to be an amazing nurse and boss. She was caring and compassionate and nothing was more important than the wellbeing of her patients.
Gwen’s most cherished role was of wife and mother. Gwen and Gordie married in June of 1965, and it was months later that Darwin was born. Two years later Sherrie was born, and their family was complete.
Even more important to Gwen was being a grandma. Kyle was born in 2002, Tyson in 2003 and Corey in 2006. The boys all loved their time with grandma learning to bake and garden. She and grandpa went to the boys sporting events and grandma took the three camping for a week every summer making memories that they will cherish forever.
Gwen loved gardening and knitting and although she always said she didn’t like cooking, her meals were always delicious and imaginative, and her butter tarts were legendary. Gwen also did a lot of furniture refinishing.
Gwen will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Gordon; children, Darwin (Karla) and son Tyson and Sherrie and her sons, Kyle and Corey; and great-grandson, Theodore. She leaves behind her siblings, Audrey Madsen, Marj Schmitt, Pat (Paul) Chuey, Selma Bear, Leroy (Dorothy) Bader, Dale (Bob) Patterson and Deanna (Don) Falkner; brother-in-law, Gary (BettyAnn) Bear; and many nieces and nephews. All were special to her, but she was especially close to her niece Debbie Parenteau and her husband Roy.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Selma (Carlson) Bader and her mother and father-in-law; Gordon and Doris (Spence) Bear; also, her son-in- law, Terry McDougald.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK.

LIFE WELL LIVED
A life well lived is a precious gift,
Of hope and strength and grace,
From someone who has made our world
A brighter, better place.
It’s filled with moments,
Sweet & sad with smiles
and sometimes tears,
with friendships formed
And good times shared,
And laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy,
Of joy and pride and pleasure,
A living, lasting memory
Our grateful hearts will treasure.
