Bill Misiwich was born on Sunday, March 4, 1934, and passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 91 years.
In his younger years, Bill first started out working in a logging camp at a sawmill in the Foothill Mountains, west of Edson, Alberta. He later traveled to Redwater, Alberta, where he took a job with Imperial Oil, working on an oil rig. From there, Bill ventured north to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, working in a gold mine for three months before moving on to Port Radium, NWT.
At just 19 years old, in September 1953, Bill began working with Eldorado Nuclear in Port Radium. He completed two contracts of 300 days each before taking a short break and heading to Uranium City, where he continued his career with Eldorado Mining and Refining Corporation. He dedicated the next 32 years of his life to the company until 1985. Following his retirement, Bill settled in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Throughout his years working in the north, he always made time for holidays, returning to the family farm in Alberta where farming remained a central part of his life.
Bill met the love of his life, Elsie Delichte, while working in Uranium City. They married on July 19, 1957, from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lloydminster, AB, and together had three children, a son who passed away shortly after birth, and their daughters, Pollyann and Lorraine.
Bill enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Prince Albert Mintos and Bears, and attending baseball games. He and Elsie shared countless vacations together across Canada and the United States, with many memorable road trips visiting family and friends.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Pollyann (Terry) Henderson and Lorraine McAreavy; his siblings, Gerald Misiwich of Edmonton, AB, Paul (Twilla) Misiwich of Beaverdam, AB; his brother-in-law Edward Dlugos of BC; his sisters-in-law, Linda Casey of Lethbridge, AB and Edith Misiwich of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Elsie; his parents, John & Katherine “Katie” Misiwich; his parents-in-law, Gerard & Renilda Delichte; his siblings, Fred Misiwich, Irene Dlugos, and Ed Misiwich; his brother and sisters-in-law, Robert (Julie) Delichte, Helen Misiwich, Elaine (Arthur) Bounds, and Cecilia Leatherberry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
