Marie Hannotte
Marie Solange Genevieve Hannotte (Nee Blondeau), passed away August 3, 2025 at the age of 94 years. She was born on February 6, 1931 in Cudworth, SK and raised on a farm near Domremy, SK. Her school years included Ste Therese country school 2 miles from the farm, Duck Lake convent and St Louis convent where she graduated from high school. After two weeks of training at Normal school, she took a teacher’s job at Glendale country school. Besides teaching 11 students ranging from grades 1 to 10, her duties included lighting the furnace and clearing snow, far from neighbors with no power or telephone. Later, Marie enrolled in Teacher’s college in Saskatoon. Following graduation, she took a teachers position in Prud’homme and later Domremy until her marriage to Charlie. After all her children were born, Marie returned to her university studies to complete her teaching certificate. She did substitute teaching for several years in Bellevue, Domremy and St. Louis. On July 8th 1952, Marie married Charles Hannotte (Charlie) of Prud’homme. Together they had 7 children and were married almost 63 years. They spent their lives farming, starting in Prud’homme and later in Hoey/St. Louis area. They retired to a condo in Wakaw and later moved to a senior’s lodge in Prince Albert. Following the death of her husband and Covid ending, Marie moved to a senior’s home also in Prince Albert. They travelled extensively throughout the world including Canada, USA, Europe, Asia, the Caribbeans and spent 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona. Her hobbies included acrylic painting, ceramics, nature and wedding photography, quilting with Charlie and the grandkids, knitting toques and scarves. She especially enjoyed curling, pattern dancing and playing her fiddle with the Fiddlers and Friends group. Marie was predeceased by her husband Charlie, her daughter Denise and infant son Norman as well as her parents Paul and Madeleine Blondeau, brother Guy, father/mother-in-law Jean/Anna and brother/sister-in-law Susan, August, Maria, and Johnny. Marie is survived by her children Gerard (Therese), Louise (Michel) Hudon, Andre (Diane), Monique (Martin) Detillieux and Marc (Paula). She is also survived by her brother Andre (Adele) and sister-in-law Rose Blondeau as well 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, they are: Janel (Billy) Tvait, child Tiana, Jennifer Hannotte, children Keegan, Kylee and Kemar, Stacey Hannotte, child Lynken, Cy (Angela) Lenz, children Zane and Axel, Mathew (Maricris) Lenz, children Alyssa and Thora, Elyse (Russel) Postnikoff, child Blair, Norman (Jennifer) Hannotte, children Westin and Wynona, Marcel Hannotte, Jocelyn (Niels) Hannotte, child Zelo, Valerie (Rohit) Hannotte, child Gage, Zachary Cochet, Armel (Devan) Cochet, Nicholas (Kaila) Cochet, children Madelynn and Jovie, Mitchell (Brittany) Detillieux, Mikayla (Dillon) Forbes, children Jett and Sutton, Madison Detillieux, Mason (Morgan) Detillieux. She is also survived by her soon-to-be stepfamily including Austin Williamson, Danielle Williamson, children Elena and Emelia, Jake Williamson, child Hunter.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Phong Tran as celebrant. Cremation will follow with Interment of the urn to take place at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Marie may be directed to CNIB. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
