Province and RM partner on $924K paving project south of Prince Albert
A new paving project south of Prince Albert is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve safety at a busy highway intersection, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways announced today.
The project involves paving a stretch of service road between Elevator Road and the junction of Highways 2 and 11. Once complete, the newly surfaced route will act as a designated truck corridor, reducing the need for heavy vehicles to cross the median at the intersection of Highway 2 and Elevator Road, a move intended to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
The work is being carried out through a cost-sharing agreement between the Ministry of Highways and the Rural Municipality (RM) of Prince Albert. The total cost of surfacing is estimated at $924,000, with the province covering up to half of the expenses. The Ministry of Highways will also take responsibility for ongoing maintenance, excluding winter upkeep.
Highways Minister David Marit said the project reflects the government’s continued commitment to collaborating with local municipalities.
