June 7, 1951 – July 12, 2025
Graden Grant McLeod passed away peacefully at home in Chemainus, BC on July 12, 2025, with family by his side.
Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Graden was the son of Lorene and Wilbert McLeod. Predeceased was his baby sister Cynthia LaRose in 2011, that of his father in 2012 and his mother in 2023.
Graden is survived by his wife, Nancy McLeod (née Sekel); his children Branin Mundy (Derrick), Morgan McLeod, and Kent McLeod (Laurie); and his beloved grandchildren, Grant and Luke McLeod, his Siblings Thiry, Elton and Karen of the family [McLeod].
Graden lived a life rooted in community, creativity, and kindness. He worked at the Chemainus Sawmill for 40 years and retired as a saw filer and Industrial First Aid provider. His contributions extended far beyond his trade. He was a baptised Christian. actively involved with Harvest House, Neighbourhood House, and Communities in Bloom. His talents also shaped local spaces through his landscaping business, “Not Just Gardens,” at the grounds of Steeples Assisted Living. Volunteer Ambulance Attendant.
An awesome athlete and lifelong learner, Graden was able to pick up any sport with ease. He played fast pitch softball, (curve ball no pitcher could match) curling, hockey and soccer. A 4H champion of Holstein cattle yet stewarded all the farm animals as if they were he. A true creator, a self-taught guitarist, a skilled cook, and an artist of much all came from his huge heart.
Graden made people feel welcome wherever he went. He was a True friend, someone who gave generously of his time, energy, and heart. He loved being outside-whether boating, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors and respected all God’s gifts.
Graden was an Amazing Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, and True friend to so many! Although words cannot capture the depth of our loss, as Graden was someone whose presence will never be replaced! We miss him deeply but take comfort in knowing that he is now with God, his heavenly father. Graden will always be with us wherever we are. He’s now “Dancing In The Sky” for you and I.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and specialists who cared for Graden throughout his cancer journey. A private service will be held at a later date. Thank you, Graden Grant McLeod, * LY ALWAYS
